Born in France, the object artist Arman (1928-2005) was one of the most innovative sculptors of the 20th century, a painter of assemblages, and also a co-founder and member of the New Realism movement. Arman was renowned for his junk art, which itself was a reflection of his departure from traditional painting and sculpture.
