Madame Hanka Zborowska

Title: "Madame Hanka Zborowska" Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 55x37 cmLocation: Held in a private collection

Description: Anna Zborowska was a significant patron of the arts during the lifetime of her husband, Leopold Zborowski, providing considerable support and assistance to Amedeo Modigliani and his lover, Jeanne Hébuterne. Modigliani painted several portrait works for her, among which the "Portrait of Anna Zborowska" stands out as particularly famous. However, the Modigliani Foundation had been unable to locate the whereabouts of the painting, recording it as lost in their archives. It wasn't until June 2016, when the painting was auctioned at Christie's in London and sold for a high price of £8.25 million, that Modigliani's "Portrait of Anna Zborowska" reemerged into public view. The current owner purchased the painting from the James Archdale family in Birmingham, UK, in 1937, and after being kept in their collection for 81 years, it has finally come to light once again.
